Ljubljana has more gyms than anywhere else in Slovenia, but they're not spread evenly: dense along Dunajska and Celovška, in BTC and along the main arterial roads, sparser in residential neighbourhoods. This guide sorts them by area so you can find one that's actually on your way. The cards below are pulled from the map — the address, logo and tags always match the database.
All gyms in the city on one map: Ljubljana 89
City centre and Tabor
If you work or study in the centre, the most convenient gyms are along Dunajska cesta just above Tivoli, near the railway station, and behind Bavarski dvor. Most are reachable on foot or by bike; parking is limited, so budget for a garage.
Bežigrad
Bežigrad is the city's densest "gym corridor": along Dunajska cesta, gyms follow one after another from Tiskarna to Ježica, with more on Linhartova and Vilharjeva. A good choice if you take the city bus along Dunajska or come in from the north.
Šiška, Dravlje and Stegne
Celovška cesta is the city's other main axis. Gyms line it from Šiška to Dravlje, plus more in the Stegne industrial zone and along Litostrojska — these tend to be more spacious, with their own car parks.

BTC, Moste and Jarše
The BTC shopping district is handy if you train after shopping or after work in the east of the city; parking is easy and bus routes are frequent. Nearby, Šmartinska cesta has a few specialised studios too.
Vič, Trnovo and Rudnik
The south-west of the city has gyms along Tržaška and Koprska; the south has Rudnik along Jurčkova cesta — these are close to the motorway junction and have plenty of parking.
Črnuče and the north
The northern edge of the city has fewer options, but the gyms there tend to be larger and less often full.

Getting between them
Ljubljana is small: it's a ten-minute bike ride from Bežigrad to the centre, and about half an hour from Vič to BTC. If you train at peak times, a bike or the city bus is often faster than driving, since parking along Dunajska and in the centre is paid or full. Gyms in BTC, Stegne and Rudnik have their own car parks and are the right choice if you're driving in from the surrounding area — Domžale, Vrhnika, Grosuplje or Kamnik.
What are you looking for?
- Strength training. Look for spacious halls with free weights and racks; check the equipment tags entered by owners and editors on the gym's page.
- Group classes. Smaller studios in the centre and Šiška run schedules with spinning, pilates or functional training; the timetable matters more than the size of the hall.
- Just starting out. Ask about an induction session. Chains with several locations let you visit any branch on one membership, which is handy if you move between work and home.
- Occasional visits. Switch on the day-pass filter; we only show a price when it's known and dated.
How to choose
- Close to work or home? In practice, the gym on your route wins. Turn on your location on the map.
- Training at night? Look for the 24/7 tag on the cards and in the map filter; we have a separate guide with the live list of 24/7 gyms across Slovenia.
- Only occasionally? Use the day-pass filter; prices are only shown when known and dated.
